Casio Illuminator Watch Instructions
Casio has created a number of electronic products since it was founded in 1946, and it launched its first electronic timepiece in November 1974 with the Casiotron model. Since then, the company has been creating wristwatches that offer additional useful data, such as the Casio World Time Watch.
Setting the Casio World Time Watch
Without having a Casio user manual by your side, this short guide explains how to set the local time, world time, alarm, and countdown timer. Using the different features of a Casio watch is easy when knowing what the different buttons do.
The first thing a Casio user needs to know is what the different buttons on the watch do. Each button can change a different setting. The Adjust button is on the top left. The Mode button is on the bottom left; press it to change from one mode to another. The Search button is on the bottom right. The Light button is on the top right, and when pressed, it illuminates the display. To exit from any setting, hit Adjust.
Time
The Casio Timekeeping Mode’s Multi-Time feature allows for quick access to the current time in the individual’s home city and in three other local cities as well as the current date. To view the different time screens on a Casio digital watch, press Search.
To change the time and date for the home city time only, hold 'Adjust' until the seconds flash. While in the setting screen, press Mode to move through the seconds, Daylight Saving Time, city code, hour, minutes, 12-hour or 24-hour format, year, month, and day. 'Mode' also adjusts the illumination duration setting, which refers to how long the light stays backlit after a button is pressed. To make the watch stay lighter for longer, the illumination duration should also be longer.
A 12-hour clock is typically used in the United States and means that half of the day will be explained as 'AM' and the afternoon will switch to 'PM.' A 24-hour clock, sometimes called 'army time,' moves from 0:00 (midnight) to 23:99 (11:59pm). The 24-hour clock is often followed in Europe. To change the hour, minutes, year, month, or day, use the 'Search' button to add and the 'Light' button to subtract. When changing the three-letter city codes, use the 'Search' button to move east and the 'Light' button to move west. Pressing 'Search' changes a number of functions on the watch. 'Search' resets the seconds, turns Daylight Savings Time (DST) on and off, switches from a 12-hour to a 24-hour time period, and sets a 1.5- or 3-second illumination.
The Casio watch has the ability to display three local times on the screen. To change the city setting for one of the three local times, first check the City Code Table manual for the city abbreviations. Once the desired city is displayed, hold 'Adjust' for approximately two seconds, until the display on the watch starts to flash. Use the 'east' and 'west' buttons to navigate the cities and press 'Mode' to display the DST setting, which can be turned on and off.
World Time
The Casio watch is a favorite because it was one of the first watches to show world time. The ability to view the current time in 48 worldwide cities and display 31 time zones on a small world map is extremely helpful for those who travel often, work with international clients, or have family in other time zones. Familiarity with time zones and time changes in different cities can keep a Casio user from calling at an inconvenient time, such as the middle of the night. To reach the World Time Mode on a Casio watch, press the 'Mode' button once. Then press the 'Search' button to view the city codes, which move eastward.
Twice a year, during Fall and Spring, every watch and clock needs to be adjusted an hour ahead and an hour behind. This is for Daylight Savings Time. To change from Standard Time to Daylight Savings Time (DST), press the Search button to choose the city code. Then, hold the 'Adjust' button for a second to show the DST indicator for that city. To make one of the displayed cities the new home city time, press the Adjust and Light buttons simultaneously.
Alarms
Alarms are extremely useful for wakeup calls, or for a midday reminder such as a meeting. To set a Casio watch alarm, press the 'Mode' button twice. As shown in the manual, this watch has the capacity to set up to five alarms, so use the 'Search' button to select which one to set. Hold the 'Adjust' button to set the time. After the 'Adjust' button is depressed, the hour flashes, and then the user can add or subtract to adjust the hour to minutes. To set a one-time alarm or a daily alarm, press the 'Mode' button. Pressing 'Adjust' turns the alarm on and off the watch.
Countdown Timer
A timer can be a useful tool for giving a reminder, exercising, playing a game, or setting a cook time in the kitchen. To reach the Countdown Timer Mode, press the 'Mode' button three times. Hold the 'Adjust' button until the countdown time flashes. Then, press the 'Mode' button to move from hours to minutes to seconds. To change an item, again use the buttons to add or subtract. To exit from the setting screen, press 'Adjust.' Pressing the 'Search' button starts, pauses, and resumes the timer.
History of Casio
Casio is a well-known watch company, but also a multi-national computer company that makes calculators, mobile phones, cameras, and even musical instruments. The company was founded by Tadao Kashio, who first invented a finger ring that could hold a cigarette. Over the years, the company evolved and started making calculators and musical instruments. It was not until the mid 1980s that Casio became known for their digital and analog wristwatches. Their hourly time signal had the ability to beep on the hour, and some models could display multiple time zones on a single screen. In the late 1990s they came out with the popular G-shock and Baby G line of watches, which became a widespread fad.
About the Casio AE1200 Series
The Casio AE1200 watch series has a variety of helpful features. These include a multi-mission LCD, a world map with multiple time zones and cities, a 10-year battery life, and 100-meter water resistant capabilities. That means that the user does not have to worry about getting caught in a downpour, or if the watch gets wet while doing a daily chore like the dishes. The watch comes in four different models, each with a different Casio watch band material, such as stainless steel, black resin, black cloth, and olive green cloth. The styling options on the Casio AE1200 are seemingly endless, which is part of what makes them such a popular watch. The user can change the band, and thus the look of the watch, without having to purchase an entirely new one. The Casio AE1200 is also a customizable watch with the ability to adjust display options and screen settings. In fact, there are so many features that one may miss them if you don't have access to a user manual, because they are not obviously displayed on the home screen. While there are many Casio user manuals to be found online, here is a quick guide to everything you might need to know about using your Casio watch.
